DJ from Perth, Western Australia. Playing Drum & Bass / Jungle since 1999. Played out here and there over the years but mainly at mates places, parties etc First gig I went to was Fierce at the Grosvenor Backroom.. (Yes, the one where the Aircon was non existent! ) Instantly hooked!! And that sound, that vibe was like nothing I'd ever heard before. Soon after, I bought some belt drive turntables and a Realistic 2 channel mixer. Spent most weekends at my mates playing records and practicing, going to all the Record Stores in Perth and surrounds and spending most of my weekly paycheck on fresh vinyl. Now after 25 years my priorities have changed in recent times and I don't but records much these days, but my love for the sound and the vibe has never dissapeared. And never will!! Currently have a pair of Technics SL1210MK2 turntables and a cheap ass Behringer mixer for when I wanna dig out the Records. But have finally upgraded to the digital age and got a Traktor controller And after a long time I'm back on the 1s and 2s and ready to record some stuff and share my sound. Even if the mixes are a bit rough and ready. All about having fun 👊🏻

Follow me on Twitter @PsykoMantis Born, and raised in the great city of Chicago, I started playing around with audio samples, and making cassettes for friends in Florida. We used to build skits, play our favorite songs, mix sound effects together etc. It was a time before cellphones, email, and facebook and a way to melt distances between friends. Later on in 1998, I met a DJ by the name of "Gemini" who introduced me to vinyl, and mixing music. I continued listening, making mix tapes, and collecting records well into the 90s when I got my first set of real turntables and mixer in 1996. I experimented throughout the 90s until I got a job at a local cable company running the public access station Channel 4 that served over 100,000 subscribers in the Chicago-land area. I used to play music during breaks of shows produced by local talent. After receiving fantastic feedback from the masses I figured I had a talent for mixing music. 1999 I attended and graduated from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting as my career seemed to be heading in that direction. I produced hundreds of shows "The Basement Sessions Live" and started posting them on Myspace and Internet as it was developing. I spread many of my mixes throughout South America, Canada, and Europe by placing them on public FTP sites, bot-serving them on IRC, and bulletin board systems. It was fun to meet people that tracked me down and have heard my mixes. During the middle to late 2000s, I held residencies at The Zoo, Zentra Lounge, Tini Martini, Champs Sports Bar, Bottom Lounge, Winchester Club. I've played in well over a hundred venues as a guest DJ and MC working with some of Chicagoland's best talent and hustling promoters. Today, while my career sadly has not gone anywhere near broadcasting, my house-music heart still beats loudly and proudly. I still produce weekly shows each more technically embellished than the last. I try to make every show special than the last. I produce all my own content using internet clippings, memes, and photoshop. Flyers are produced for every show, and no mix is ever the same. Today in 2015 I still produce mixes, work with various producers, and align myself with the amazing Chicago House Music Community. It's been a family to me for all these years. The people within the community help me make Chicago home. They are the reason why I'm still here. The people that listen in, say hello, thank me for my mixes/music, and generally give me constructive feedback is why I continue to rock the decks. While I try to use the latest in cutting edge technology, every show I produce is NEVER synced, completely improvised, no set lists, completely random, and I try to keep talking to a minimum. I want the music to present itself in the smoothest form possible. I strive for the perfect mix every time, yet I never am satisfied. My goal is your enjoyment, and the spread of Chicago house to the masses. Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile, listen to my mixes, and PLEASE feel free to download my tunes. I do this for you, I do this for me, I do this for Chicago House Music. I love you all, thanks for being you, and thanks for any additional promotion you provide. Without my fans and followers, I am truly nothing. For this I'm humble.

Justin discovered Bass music at the age of 16 on the radio (Monday nights: Global Groove Network, rebroadcast on University of Toronto’s CIUT 89.5FM). He Started attending Toronto events in 1999, his first being one thrown by “Big Bud”. Nicky Blackmarket soon became his personal DJ hero, due to his track selection and upbeat personality. He soon began attending Contraband events in Barrie and was introduced to the local underground community. Due to his persistence and skill, he was adopted by Contraband and originally learned to mix vinyl on Tec1200 turntables, since CDs were far from mainstream. He soon realized that he needed this creative outlet, and purchased his first set of turntables. The Contraband Family has been a strong personal influence for Justin from the start, encouraging him to embrace music as a hobby and a means to focus and stay productive. Working with the organization he was able to further develop his turntable technique and self-confidence - and meet people with similar interests. He has built up his vinyl collection, buying and trading with other favourite local DJs, but most of his current purchases are digital. He has become proficient with Pioneer CD decks and digital interfaces - preferring Serato or Traktor using vinyl or CDs, or either medium without an interface. In 2012 Data-Bass started Gridlock Radio - a weekly internet radio show featuring rotating guests on BassJunkees. The show celebrated it’s 1-Year Anniversary in February of 2013 and has become one of the station's top downloads. Miss Cheviouss (aka Selectra) has been moved from her apartment to the clubs causing trouble on the decks the whole time since she recently busted onto the scene in 2010. She has been supporting bass culture since way back in 1998, which means she was quite probably too young to be "raving".. Jen quickly accumulated a quality collection of a wide variety of digital music and through practice and dedication, plus the support from her friends, developed her technique and consistent precision on CD-decks over a very short period of time. She jumped at the opportunity to become a resident DJ on the Gridlock Radio show on Bassjunkees and many of her mixes can be heard via their PodCasts. She showed much promise as a radio DJ and was welcomed to the Contraband family in 2013. Now surrounded by positive, strong minded people and the right resources, her senses of creativity and motivation have been seriously augmented and she is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. She is now one of the co-hosts of "Locked Up" (host of the "Liquid Lunch" segment) -Saturdaysat2pm ESTon Contraband Radio! Selctra has been making her mark by performing with deadly precision and versatility, mixing nearly all styles and sub-genres of drum & bass music, dubstep and trap, constantly feeding off of the crowd’s energy.
